The Path Opening Committee in Tripoli has commenced a thorough field survey of buildings in the Shatt al-Hanshir area, located near the Ben Ghali Mosque and the Shahida Institute for Comprehensive Professions in the Souk Al-Jumaa municipality.
Announced by the Housing and Utilities Projects Implementation Agency on Sunday evening, the inventory is a critical preparatory step for a significant urban redevelopment project aimed at opening new pathways and improving traffic flow according to the city’s general master plan.
The agency stated on its official Facebook page that this operation is being conducted in close collaboration with the Tripoli Public Services Company and the Municipal Guard, underscoring the coordinated effort to facilitate infrastructure upgrades in the district.
The lane opening initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance urban mobility and infrastructure in Tripoli, tackling congestion and creating better access routes for residents.
Local authorities hope that these improvements will not only ease traffic but also contribute to the revitalisation of the area, supporting both economic activity and community wellbeing.
As the inventory progresses, the committee will assess the buildings to ensure the planned expansions align with safety and regulatory standards, preparing for the next stages of construction and urban planning.
Residents and stakeholders await updates on how these changes will affect the neighbourhood, which is poised for transformation under Tripoli’s ongoing development strategy.
