The Mamie Aya N’go School Group (GSMAN’GO) in Sakassou has launched free holiday classes for 1,280 schoolchildren and students, aiming to help them prepare for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The initiative, which began on 4 August, was introduced by the school’s founder, Félix Akoto Yao, and is supported by the institution’s teaching staff. It brings together children from both the Catholic Primary School (EPC) and GSMAN’GO, ranging from Year 6 to Year 12.
According to the school’s director of studies, Adjé Kouamé Narcisse, the programme is designed to give pupils a strong start when classes resume. “Our goal is to prepare beneficiaries for the next school year and ensure they are ready for the challenges ahead,” he said.
Of the participants, 509 attend the Catholic Primary School, while 771 are enrolled at GSMAN’GO. Lessons are taught by experienced teachers, with the founder personally providing support to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
A distinctive feature of the 2025 edition is the inclusion of courses in two national languages, Baoulé and Malinké, offered to students from Year 6 to Year 12. Organisers say this element aims to strengthen cultural knowledge and linguistic diversity alongside core academic subjects.
The classes will run until 29 August, giving pupils nearly a month of structured learning during their school break. Local educators and parents have welcomed the initiative, saying it not only bridges learning gaps but also keeps children engaged during the holidays.
By offering free access, organisers hope to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent students from benefiting from the extra support, particularly in a region where many families face economic challenges.
