
Algeria has proudly secured three medals at the International Youth Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition (IYRC 2025) held in South Korea on August 5 and 6, showcasing the country’s emerging prowess in technological innovation.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of National Education, the Algerian national team distinguished itself among participants from over 30 countries, capturing a gold, silver, and bronze medal with groundbreaking projects that highlight creativity and technical skill.
The gold medal was awarded to the MEDICart project, a smart robot leveraging computer vision to provide advanced healthcare solutions. This innovation underscores Algeria’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with practical applications to improve medical care.
Taking silver, the ECOSORT project impressed judges with its environmentally focused design. This intelligent robot automates waste classification, serving as a model for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The bronze medal went to the Smart Zoo project, an Internet of Things-based system that automates animal care, reflecting an innovative approach to smart agriculture and ecological management.
The Ministry of National Education expressed profound pride in the students’ achievements, highlighting the team’s performance as a testament to the spirit of innovation thriving within Algerian schools.
“This accomplishment reaffirms our belief in investing in young minds to build quality educational foundations,” the ministry said.
On this occasion, the Minister of National Education extended heartfelt congratulations to the winning team, encouraging all science clubs across the country to redouble their efforts in pursuit of excellence on national, regional, and global stages. “We call on all science clubs to mobilize their efforts to honor Algeria in various competitions,” he stated.
