The 2025 Senate elections in Egypt have entered their second day, with polling stations across the country opening promptly at 9 a.m. and set to remain open until 9 p.m.
This was confirmed during a live broadcast by the National Elections Authority’s Central Operations Room on Tuesday, August 5.
Judge Ahmed Bandari, Executive Director of the National Elections Authority, led a press briefing to update the public on the voting process. He reported close monitoring of polling stations by general and subcommittee heads to ensure a smooth electoral process. Early reports indicated a robust turnout, particularly in Cairo Governorate, where voters arrived from the very first hour of opening.
A total of 8,286 polling stations have been activated nationwide for the Senate elections. Citizens are casting their votes for the upper house of parliament in a process that will continue throughout the day.
Regarding the timeline for results, the National Elections Authority announced that preliminary outcomes from the first round will be revealed on August 12, 2025. Victory for individual candidates depends on securing an absolute majority of valid votes within their electoral districts. If no candidate achieves this majority, a runoff election will be held on August 27 and 28.
Final official results, taking into account any appeals, are scheduled for announcement on September 4, 2025.
Judge Bandari emphasized the authority’s commitment to transparency and the efficient management of the electoral process: “We are following up closely with all committees to ensure citizens can exercise their democratic rights safely and fairly.”
With polling stations now open across Egypt, voters continue to make their voices heard in shaping the country’s legislative future through the 2025 Senate elections.
