Libya’s National Center for Meteorology has forecast a mix of moderate temperatures, rising heat, and scattered thunderstorms across various regions of the country over the next three days, beginning Thursday.
According to the center, northern regions will enjoy relatively moderate weather today and tomorrow, with a noticeable rise in temperatures anticipated on Saturday, particularly in the northwest.
“Sky conditions will be partly cloudy in areas stretching from Ras Jedir to Sirte, including the Al-Jafara Plain and Nafusa Mountains,” the center said in its bulletin. Winds in these regions are expected to range from northwesterly to northeasterly at light to moderate speeds. Maximum daytime temperatures will hover between 29°C and 35°C, increasing temporarily on Saturday, especially inland.
In the eastern belt, covering the Gulf, the Benghazi Plain and up to Amsaid, the weather will remain partly cloudy, with occasional thickening of clouds and a slight chance of light rain over the Green Mountain region. Winds will blow from the northwest, sometimes picking up speed in coastal areas. Daytime temperatures are forecast between 29°C and 33°C.
Further south, in regions including Al-Jufra, Sabha, Ghat, Ghadames, and Al-Hamada, clouds are expected to gather periodically today, with a likelihood of thunderstorms developing by evening in southwestern areas. Winds will shift from southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate in speed. Maximum temperatures in this zone are forecast to range from 38°C to 43°C, although a slight drop is expected tomorrow in the far southwest.
In the desert oases of Al-Sarir, Tazirbu, and Kufra, residents can expect clear to partly cloudy skies and moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds. Temperatures in these areas will range between 37°C and 41°C, with a gradual cooling trend anticipated over the weekend.
The center concluded that starting Sunday, the northwestern regions will see a temperature decline, with moderate weather likely to extend across the country by midweek.
