Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, during an official visit to Turkey, convened a high-level meeting with leading Turkish investors on July 30 in Ankara, signalling a renewed push to bolster economic cooperation and fast-track key development projects in Gabon.
Joined by several members of his cabinet, President Oligui Nguema led a strategic working session aimed at reviving major initiatives and encouraging Turkish private sector involvement in Gabon’s infrastructure, energy, health, and urban development sectors.
The gathering attracted major Turkish conglomerates, including infrastructure giant Cengiz Holding, which expressed strong interest in road construction and the development of the Mayumba deep-water port—a project considered vital to the economic revitalisation of southern Gabon.
Gülsan Holding, a company renowned for its industrial and public works expertise, revealed intentions to engage in projects with significant socio-economic impact, particularly in Gabon’s hydroelectric power sector. Hakan Kıran Architecture, a key player in urban transformation, offered technical support in modernising Gabonese cities, aligning with the government’s ongoing urban renewal initiatives.
In the healthcare domain, Liv Hospital, already a partner in the medical evacuation of Gabonese patients, proposed deepening collaboration through training and skill-transfer programmes.
The initiative would include professional immersion opportunities for Gabonese healthcare workers in Turkish medical institutions.
At the close of the session, President Oligui Nguema commended the enthusiasm and openness of the Turkish business community.
He reaffirmed Gabon’s commitment to building long-term, trust-based economic partnerships and emphasized the country’s strategic orientation towards international investment to drive national development.
The meeting in Ankara marks a significant step in Gabon’s diplomatic and economic outreach, with both sides expressing optimism for a future of strengthened bilateral cooperation.
